The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will introduce a new Paris-to-Monaco route on May 10, 2027, taking passengers to Monte Carlo for the first time in the train’s history. The overnight journey will become a regular part of its annual schedule.
Passengers will board the train’s midnight-blue carriages in Paris and can choose among Historic Cabins, Suites and Grand Suites, all inspired by its Art Deco heritage. The train also offers L’Observatoire, a private carriage created with French artist JR that includes a bedroom, an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, a living area, a library and a tearoom.
Dinner will be served in one of two restaurant cars, Étoile du Nord and L’Oriental. Guests can then visit Bar Car 3674 for cocktails and live piano music. Breakfast is served in the cabins the following morning as the train travels along the Côte d’Azur, passing the red cliffs of the Massif de l’Estérel and Saint-Raphaël on its way towards Cannes, Nice and Monaco-Monte-Carlo station.
Monte Carlo has a connection to the train’s origins: two original carriages were bought at an auction in the principality in 1977, helping launch the project that became the luxury train.
Fares for the new route start at €4,870 per person, based on two people sharing a Historic Cabin. The price includes the overnight journey, meals with sommelier-selected wines, unlimited soft drinks, transfers and 24-hour steward service.
