The Guardian is asking readers to recommend their favourite European city for a winter break and explain what makes it especially appealing during the colder months. Suggestions could focus on atmospheric old towns, cosy cafés, festive shopping or seasonal activities such as ice skating and snowy walks.
The best tip of the week will be chosen by Tom Hall of Lonely Planet. Its author will receive a £200 voucher towards a stay at a Coolstays property, with the company offering more than 3,000 properties worldwide. Selected tips will also be published in the Guardian Travel section and on its website.
Entries should be around 100 words. Readers may submit a relevant photograph, although the competition will be judged on the written tip. Entry is restricted to UK residents, and submissions close at 10am GMT on Monday 9 November.
