The Capital One Venture X Business charges a $395 annual fee and offers travel credits, anniversary miles, airport lounge access and rewards on purchases. Whether those benefits make the card worthwhile depends on how much a business owner can use them and whether they can meet the spending requirements for its welcome offer.
New applicants can earn 150,000 bonus miles after spending $40,000 in the first four months after opening an account. Spending $120,000 in total during that period earns another 150,000 miles and a $1,000 Capital One Business Travel credit. Based on The Points Guy’s November valuations, the full offer is worth up to $6,550, including the travel credit. The spending thresholds are substantial, so the bonus may be less relevant to applicants who cannot meet them.
The card earns 10 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Business Travel, 5 miles per dollar on flights and vacation rentals booked through the portal, and 2 miles per dollar on other purchases. Miles can be used to cover eligible travel expenses charged to the card in the previous 90 days, at 1 cent per mile, or transferred to Capital One’s airline and hotel partners. The Points Guy values Capital One miles at 1.85 cents each when used with transfer partners, though actual value depends on the redemption.
Cardholders also receive $300 each year for travel booked through Capital One Business Travel. Using the credit would reduce the effective annual fee to $95, but booking through the portal may mean missing hotel or rental car elite-status benefits.
On each account anniversary, cardholders receive 10,000 bonus miles. The Points Guy values those miles at $185 when used with transfer partners, or $100 when redeemed directly for travel at 1 cent per mile. Combined with the annual travel credit, this benefit can exceed the $395 fee, provided cardholders make use of both.
The primary cardholder gets unlimited access to Capital One Lounges and access to Priority Pass lounges. Capital One also operates dining-focused Landing facilities at LaGuardia and Ronald Reagan Washington National airports. The card includes a statement credit of up to $120 for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck every four years, plus access to luxury hotel bookings and elite-like benefits through Capital One’s Premier Collection.
For business owners who can use the travel credit and anniversary miles, the recurring benefits may justify the annual fee. Those who are unlikely to use the credit or lounge access, or who may struggle to meet the welcome offer’s spending requirements, may find another business card a better fit.
