United offers several ways to enter its United Club lounges, including paid memberships, select credit cards, eligible MileagePlus elite status, premium-cabin tickets and one-time passes. Each option has different guest privileges and location rules, so access depends on how a traveler qualifies and which lounge they visit.
A same-day boarding pass for a United or Star Alliance flight is required to enter any United lounge. United Clubs are available at major U.S. airports, while the airline also operates Club Fly locations aimed at travelers who want a quicker stop. Access conditions can differ at those locations.
United introduced two paid membership tiers in 2025. The higher tier includes expanded guest privileges and access to partner lounges, while other membership and eligibility options have their own guest limits. One-time passes have stricter restrictions, according to the guide.
Some travelers may also qualify through select credit cards, MileagePlus elite status or a premium-cabin ticket. The guide notes that eligibility and guest access depend on the specific status or ticket class; it does not provide a single rule that applies across all options.
United MileagePlus miles were valued at 1.2 cents each by The Points Guy in November 2026. Based on that valuation, the guide says paying cash for a membership is generally preferable to redeeming miles. The best route to lounge access therefore depends on a traveler’s existing benefits, itinerary and need to bring guests.
