A purchase of three Portland Timbers tickets totaling about $180 generated nearly 3,800 points and miles by combining several rewards opportunities. Instead of earning the 180 points that a 1-point-per-dollar card would provide, the buyer stacked rewards from the Chase Freedom Flex, Rove and Paze.

The Freedom Flex offered select live entertainment as a 5% quarterly bonus category during the third quarter of 2026, with activation required and the bonus applying to up to $1,500 in combined quarterly category spending. Because the card earns Ultimate Rewards points, the ticket purchase generated approximately 900 points through the category.

The purchase was also started through Rove’s shopping portal and completed through StubHub. At the time, Rove offered 6.5 Rove miles per dollar on StubHub purchases, resulting in more than 1,100 additional miles. Rove miles can be transferred to more than 20 airline and hotel partners, although the rewards may take time to post. In this case, the miles were still pending, with Rove indicating they could arrive by early December.

The final layer came from Paze. Eligible Chase cardholders could earn 10 additional Ultimate Rewards points per dollar at participating merchants through Dec. 31, and StubHub was included in the promotion. Paying with Paze added roughly 1,800 points.

The rewards breakdown was approximately 900 points from the Freedom Flex, 1,100 Rove miles and 1,800 points from Paze. Based on November 2026 valuations from The Points Guy, those rewards were estimated to be worth about $77 in total.

The buyer reported that Paze did not work on mobile but worked immediately on desktop. The transaction did not explicitly mention Paze, although the points posted a few days later. Recording the purchase was suggested as documentation in case the rewards did not appear.

The strategy relies on combining a card’s bonus category with shopping portal rates and limited-time payment promotions. It also illustrates how larger purchases, including expenses shared with family or friends, can generate additional rewards without relying on a new-card welcome bonus.

The Chase Freedom Flex’s rotating 5% categories are available only after activation and remain subject to the quarterly spending limit. Rove users should begin their purchase through the Rove app, website or browser extension and disable other shopping portal extensions when using a browser.

New Freedom Flex applicants can, upon approval, earn $250 cash back or 25,000 bonus points after spending $500 during the first three months, according to the supplied information. Cardholders with an eligible Ultimate Rewards card can transfer Freedom Flex points to Chase’s 14 transfer partners.
