The Citi / AAdvantage Business World Elite Mastercard is aimed at small-business owners and side hustlers who regularly fly American Airlines. Its airline-focused benefits include a free first checked bag on domestic itineraries for the cardholder and up to four companions on the same reservation, preferred boarding and rewards on selected business expenses.

The card has no annual fee for the first cardholder year, followed by a $99 fee. For renewals after Jan. 24, 2027, the fee will increase to $150. From that date, the existing discount on eligible inflight purchases will be replaced by up to $100 in annual statement credits for eligible inflight food, drinks and paid Wi-Fi. Cardholders will also be able to receive up to $120 every four years toward a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee.

The card earns 2 AAdvantage miles per dollar on eligible American Airlines purchases, telecommunications, cable and satellite services, gas stations and car rentals. It earns 1 mile per dollar on other purchases. From Jan. 24, 2027, cardholders can also earn 2 miles per dollar in one selected business category: U.S. shipping, office supply stores or U.S. advertising services. The selected category can be changed once a quarter. Eligible bookings through AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars earn 3 miles per dollar.

A companion certificate is available after at least $30,000 in spending during an account year. It costs $99 plus taxes and fees, making the spending threshold a significant consideration for a card whose nonbonus purchases earn just 1 mile per dollar.

For a limited time, new cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $5,000 in the first five months after opening the account. The review says this is the card’s highest recent public welcome offer. AAdvantage miles can be redeemed for award flights on American Airlines and partner airlines, as well as for upgrades and other travel options.

The card’s main appeal is for businesses that can use its American Airlines benefits and bonus categories. Its core airline perks overlap with those on the personal Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select, so many travelers may not need both. The business card may still suit those who want to separate business expenses or issue employee cards. Its higher fee from 2027 will be harder to justify for cardholders who do not use the new credits or already receive similar benefits through another card or airline status.
